1. Durability
A compass for hiking must be durable because there is a high possibility it will get bumped in your backpack or fall on the ground at some point. To ensure durability, EK-01 compass has an anodized Zinc Alloy metal housing, and is proofed to resist harmful conditions, such as sand particles or being emerged in water.
2. Stability & Speed
The needle should point to the north immediately and with ease. Even if you’re hiking leisurely, bad weather can come on fast and you’ll want a needle that settles fast. EK-01 compass is liquid-filled and has a Saphire jewel bearing, allows the needle to move freely, and keeps it from twitching when you’re taking readings.
3. Wide Temperature Range
If you're hiking in low temperatures such as cold winter, or in hot temperatures like the desert, you want to make sure your compass can keep up. The working temperature of EK-01 compass is -30° C to +60° C / -22° F to +140° F, ensured the liquid does not freeze or produce bubbles inside.
